A brief resume of 2022 related to software development, engineering, tech, startups … in my humble opinion

Time is passing by and we are already in December, making wish lists to the next year and beyond. I decided to spend a few minutes writing about my vision of this year and what is coming next as a software engineer.

The year of 2022 came with some consequences of the previous years (economically speaking), plus some extra topics that happened with the Russian invasion which caused more retraction in some aspects of the economy.

United States and Europe got unbelievable levels of inflation and this and other factors are affecting directly the software development field.

There are some folks who were already prepared for what was coming or it is already coming for our field and I’ve been seeing a lot of desperate ones who thinks that we are in the end of the world on software engineering.

Fact is that a lot of startups and normal companies are in a detracting mode and some of us are getting laid off and some not. I do believe that a lot of great developers are being laid off due random cuts on corporate level and/or basically because the startup just broke.
